TRAILBLAZER

Born on January 18, 1956, in Brooklyn, New York, Harvey was a son to the late Amos and Helen (Sneed) Edwards.

Following high school, Harvey earned his Bachelor's Degree from Bucknell University and his Master's Degree from The Pennsylvania State University. His dedication to learning and personal growth was evident throughout his life and career. He will be remembered with respect and fondness by those who knew him.

He devoted his career to education, teaching English at Selinsgrove Area High School for 28 years before continuing to share his love of literature, language and teaching, as a professor at Susquehanna University. Harvey stood by the quote "If you love your job, you will never have to work a day in your life."

Beyond the classroom, Harvey lived life to the fullest. He was recruited to play basketball at Bucknell University. Harvey was a three-time world champion in Ultimate frisbee, a passionate golfer who played three days a week with his friends at the Bucknell Golf Club, and an enthusiastic traveler who loved exploring the world with his family.

Considered the greatest natural athlete of his era in the game, Harvey played for several top teams in the 1970’s and 1980’s, including the Bucknell University Mudsharks and the Berkeley Flying Circus. In the 1990’s, he added three Club Masters World Championships with the Seven Sages of the Bamboo Grove.

Harvey never failed to leave a lasting impression wherever he went. If you ever met him, you couldn’t possibly forget. Many beautiful flowers have sprouted from the footprints that he left behind as a husband, father, teacher, teammate and friend, and it will be a joy to watch them grow and bloom in the years to come. His passing leaves behind a big empty space.

Harvey is survived by his loving wife, Patricia (Gibbons) Edwards; twin sons, Tynan Shaw Edwards (Carrie) and Cassidy Page Edwards (Julie); and grandchildren Nathan Daniel, Lucas Harvey, and Rory Joyce. In addition to his parents, Harvey was preceded in death by one sister, Mattie Blaize.
